Only Sept. 1st and 3rd left for Big Cobia

I’m down to 2 days left for the Cobia–Wednesday, Sept. 1 and Friday, Sept. 3. Cost is $600 for 6 people and if you have additional people it’s $75 for each extra person. I’ll be picking up the charters from Horn Harbor Marina in Port Haywood in Mathews County. Directions to marina can be found on this website under the Directions tab. See photos from last weekend below. Let me know if you can get your group together to go after these trophy fish as soon as possible via email or call 804-529-6725.

I have a friend, Don Bowers, who has gone down fishing for Cobia the past couple of weekends and they have had unbelievable catches of huge fish some up to 70+ pounds. Here’s a couple photos from this past weekend. If I can get a few charters together I’ll take the boat down to Horn Harbor Marina to go for them August 30 – Sept. 3. Summer Fun.

This past week I have been leaving from Horn Harbor Marina in Mathews County and going down to the Bay Bridge Tunnel looking for Cobia. Unfortunately, I’ve only caught one Cobia but have had some action catching other species. I’ll bring the boat back up the Bay and will begin fishing again July 11 from Lottsburg, my home port. The flounder below was caught fishing out of Lottsburg the day I moved the boat so I’m hoping to find more of those when I get back up. I have plenty of time available so please contact me if you want to go fishing.

Cooler weather but fishing still hot.

Still a variety of fish…red drum, bluefish, rockfish, and bottomfish (croaker, perch, & spot). I did all types of fishing this week depending on what the groups wanted to go after. I am moving on down the bay tomorrow night to fish for cobia, sharks, ray, sea mullet, flounder and bluefish. I still have some Tuesday,July 6th and Saturday, July 10 open for one of those charters.

I am moving the boat down to the lower bay to go for big fighting Cobia in July. I’ll be keeping the boat at Horn Harbor Marina in Mathews County & going out around the Bay Bridge Tunnel. They are running 30 to 50+ pounds and each person can keep 1 fish. If you want a trophy to take home, as well as, some good meat this will be a charter you would enjoy. We’ll be catching shark and rays mixed in with the cobia to make a lot of action. (Cost:$650 for up to 6 people and $75 for each extra person over the 6.) I only do this one time a year so don’t miss out on this experience.

Finally we’ve gotten some warmer temperatures so I can do the annual maintenance on the boat. I have it hauled and will soon paint the bottom. I thought you might like to see what the boat looks like out of the water.

Stripers are Getting Bigger and More Plentiful

The last two days we’ve maxed out the limits. The fish have gotten bigger and we had one today just shy of being a citation. Martin Luther King, Jr. day is still available for charter for those of you who have a holiday that day. It would be a good day to take the family fishing.

I still have some weekdays available for charter during January for fishing out of Virginia Beach. During that season, you can keep 2 large stripers per person. The cost is $750 for up to 6 persons and $100 for each additional person over the six. I have lined up a couple of hotels (one is on the oceanfront) that will offer very inexpensive rates if you are fishing with me and want to spend the night. Contact me if you want more info. David
